Let's Talk Weight Loss & Wellness ✨
Hi my powgirls!! 🥰
I hope you’ve been so well since we last chatted. I feel like everyone’s been having such a busy summer— getting outdoors, staying so active, etc. I’m loving it!! I love having this community so much— seeing you listening to POW while you’re on a hot girl walk, hitting a workout class with other powgirls, it all literally melts my heart and keeps me so inspired on my own wellness journey. I’m so grateful for each and every one of you!! 🤎
One of my most highly requested POW topics, especially when summer comes around, is nutrition and weight loss. When I was going through my own weight loss journey, I remember feeling so confused by the lack of concrete information I had. I was so lucky to have Greg because he knew quite a bit about bodybuilding, but our goals were obviously much different and our needs differed as well. I know how hard it can be to set out on your pursuit of wellness, confused on what information to trust or where to even begin. So I wanted to make it easy for you all and create an episode that was one big mashup of some of my absolute favorite guests who are all fitness experts.
The episode is such a gem and truly such a great listen for anyone either starting the wellness journey or already on it. I highly recommend you give it a listen, but I also wanted to hop on here to give you a little bonus and share some of my favorite takeaways from the episode to make it super easy for you. 🫶
🥩 Up Your Protein
Protein plays such a huge role in any weight loss or wellness journey. Not only does it keep you full and help you build muscle, which is vital for optimal metabolism function, it’s also so important to your overall health longterm. I center my meals around protein, then I build from there with fresh fruits, veggies & whole foods. I love to reach for high protein, clean snacks as well like Chomps & Rawr protein bars.
💧Drink More Water!!
You will never catch me without my huge water jug. Staying hydrated is such a key part to wellness and can be such a helpful tool when you’re on a weight loss journey. I used to always find myself reaching for snacks when I wasn’t even hungry or didn’t realize I was just thirsty. Staying hydrated helps keep you on track.
🥗 Eat before you leave
Do not leave the house hungry!! Because I know most places won’t have healthy or high protein options, I always try to plan ahead and make sure I’ve had a meal & bring a snack with me when I’m leaving the house. I definitely still enjoy eating out here and there and you should too, I just approach it with much more balance now.
👯 Find your people
This is a big one. When you go on any big journey that will require a change in habit and increase in discipline, you have to find people that support you. Changing your life around completely is so hard as it is—trust me, I know. Having people around you with similar goals that want to see you win will make the process so much easier, more enjoyable, and increase your chances of sticking to it longterm. Join a Facebook group, find a powgirl in my comments, filter your socials so you only see content that inspires you. You don’t have to do this alone!!
If you’re new to your wellness journey or already on it and you ever feel alone, I just want to applaud you and remind you that you aren’t. I think it’s such an admirable thing to go against the norm and take care of yourself— it truly is so fulfilling in the long run and I am just so proud of every single person who wakes up everyday and tries to be better.
For more tips from me and two other fitness experts, Sal Di Stefano and Shawn Stevenson, be sure to give this week’s episode of POW a listen. Sending you all my good vibes, love & encouragement on this journey to a better you, I’m so proud of you!! Chat soon. 🫶
