Life Update & My Top Holiday Wellness Tips
Hi guys, happy holidays! ✨🎁
I wanted to check in before we get into the craze of holiday prepping, shopping, and traveling to give you guys some updates and wellness tips for getting through the holidays. 🎊
This year, I’ll be spending the holidays in New York with Greg’s family, and I can’t wait! We’ll be doing a few days in the city and another few on Long Island, and honestly, I’m so excited to be back on the East Coast for the winter — the holidays just feel so magical in NY. Greg’s family is Italian, so they make these incredible feasts with tons of delicious food — I’m preparing to ✨indulge✨ in some great food and wine, and I truly can’t wait.
Right now I’m in LA soaking up as many moments with Greg, Lulu, Arnie, and Beaux as I can. ☀️ I’m so grateful to be somewhere it’s still sunny in the winter so I can go riding whenever I’m free and still enjoy my evening walks with Greg and the pups!
I know the holidays can be a bit overwhelming for some of us. When I first got into my wellness journey I felt like I struggled to stay on track and would just really beat myself up over not sticking to my fitness or wellness routine, so if you’re feeling that way, you’re definitely not alone. (And spoiler alert, you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself!) 💚
I’ve really given myself the space to be a bit more lenient through the festivities, and it’s helped a lot, but it’s also been so helpful to stick to a routine that helps me feel good in my body, and like I’m still on track!
Here are 6 of my favorite wellness tips for the holiday season and feeling my best!
🏃♀️ Long Walks
I know winters can get chilly, especially if you’re heading to the East Coast like me, but I love implementing walks into my daily routine whenever possible. They don’t require equipment the way a gym session might, and can really be done at any moment you have the time. Walking is such a great method for grounding yourself, focusing on your breathing, regrouping, and getting some alone time. I always try to get a walk in after dinner to get my blood flowing in the evening and help with digestion! 🧘♀️
🚰 Hydration
This is such an underrated hack in my opinion, but when you’re running around cooking, shopping, spending time with family, etc., it’s so easy to forget about hydrating! Especially if you’re someone who generally has a routine and is good about getting their water in, a shift in water intake can really throw you off balance. I take my 96oz Stanley everywhere I go and it’s been life-changing — I’m honestly so upset I didn’t get one sooner!
It’s a little much, I get it, but it’s such a game changer to not go through the hassle of running out of water, forgetting to refill your bottle, finding a place to refill when you’re on the go, etc. This has been one of my favorite wellness investments lately — I definitely recommend it!
🌱 Bloom Greens
I’m sure you know this by now, but I never go a day without my Greens. When I first created Greens, I had been vacationing and not staying on my typical wellness routine, but I realized I still felt amazing if I had my daily scoop. It’s been a part of my daily regimen ever since! I take Greens Stick Packs literally everywhere I go because they’re so easy and convenient to just throw in my purse or carry on, and I love staying consistent with at least one thing while my holiday routine is a little disrupted. Be sure to stock up here before the holidays, they make great stocking stuffers too!
😴 Sleep & Recovery
It’s so so important to prioritize getting enough quality sleep year-round, but especially during the holidays. I feel like this is so easily overlooked, especially if you’re traveling, switching time zones, staying up late, etc. It’s easy to push yourself and your body a bit more during these high-travel seasons — especially when you’re out and about, seeing family and friends, etc. Prioritizing a good night’s rest will keep you feeling your best.
I also love to use blue-light-blocking glasses before bed to improve my sleep quality and melatonin production and help me wake up feeling well-rested and refreshed!
✨ Stay in the moment
I’m the first to tell you I absolutely love my routine and committing to things that make me feel good, but I also think it’s so important to have balance and let yourself just live in the moment sometimes, too. Don’t sacrifice memories and quality time with people you love for the sake of restricting yourself or sticking to a routine — do things that bring you joy and give yourself a little grace, especially around the holidays. You’ll never regret the memories that come with letting yourself have a bit more balance during this time of year!
🧘♀️ Setting Boundaries
Get clear about what you need to feel supported and feel your best around the holidays, and don’t be afraid to set boundaries around that. There’s already so much stress associated with this time of year, so don’t be afraid to make clear what does and does not work for you. This makes it easier for the people around you to fill your cup in ways that best support you and allows you to show up as your best self, too!
I hope you found these tips helpful and implement them as needed, but above all, I encourage you to find what works best for you. No one is the same and everyone needs to feel supported in different ways, so be sure to experiment and find what you need around this time of year. ✨
